NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

Every year, millions of people make New Year’s resolutions, hoping to spark positive change. As we start a new year, energized by the possibilities a new year offers. Every year millions of people make New Year’s resolutions, and most of them are personal: lose weight, eat healthier, exercise more, spend more time with the family, and give more to charity, are some of the most common ones.

January is a great time to reprioritize life and set new goals for the months to come. Don’t come short in 2020, fill your list with achievable goals that will bring a sense of accomplishment to your life.

Yes, we all want to lose weight, but losing 100 lbs. in 11 months can be very challenging; instead, you can break down that goal into smaller achievable goals that you can track on a month to month basis to stay encouraged and engaged.

We can all agree that we live in a world that needs improvement left and right wherever you look, economy, climate change, social inequality, and many more can quickly come to mind. Again, changing the world may seem like an impossible task, but we can get involved with organizations in our communities to address a specific area that is close to our hearts. We can’t change the world but can have a positive impact on our community.

There are many ways we can get involved, you can give money, you can offer your services as an in-kind donation to an organization that may need assistance in that area, and you can give your time. Make 2020 a year in which you will volunteer more, make it fun, invite your friends and family, look for a cause that is close to your heart, call them or visit their webpage and find the opportunities available for you.

Assistance to the Elderly is a non-profit that advocates for low-income older adults in our community by enabling them to have meaningful and dignified lives by providing safe supportive housing, quality services, community education, and advocacy. Assistance to the Elderly owns an assisted living community, Residential Plaza at Blue Lagoon, where 350 older adults have an affordable home with assisted living services that allows them to live in a safe, caring, and supportive environment while maintaining their dignity, independence, and purpose.

There are many opportunities to volunteer at assistance to the Elderly, come and volunteer with us to take your New Year’s resolutions to the next level. For more information, visit our webpage www.atteinc.org.
